Roland Yuno Rech

Roland Rech

Born in 1944, Roland Rech graduated from the Institute of Political Studies of Paris in 1966. He obtained after that the French DESS diploma (Master) in Clinical Psychology. After three years of work in the industry, he went on a journey around the world and discovered the practice of zazen at the Antaiji Temple in Kyoto. Touched by this experience, he decided in 1972 to follow the teaching of Master Deshimaru in Paris. He became his disciple and received the monk ordination in 1974.

While working in the industry, he helped Master Deshimaru’s in his mission by becoming one of his translators, by coordinating the dojos, editing his books and leading sesshins. After the death of Master Deshimaru in 1982, he became President of the AZI, a position he held until 1994. He is currently the AZI Vice-president.

In 1984 he received the Shiho (Dharma transmission) from Master Niwa Zenji Renpo of the Eiheiji Temple.

In 1986, he took part in the creation of the French Buddhist Union and was its Vice-president for 15 years.

He teaches at the Gyobutsuji Temple of Nice, as well as during many sesshins in all Europe. He transmitted the Shiho to several of his disciples (see list below).

His teachings are published in numerous books, mainly in the “Yuno Kusen collection”. His works are also published by other editors: “Zen Monk in the West” (Albin Michel editions); “Zen, the daily Enlightenment” (Actes Sud editions). The text of his interview by Edmond Blatchen (during the television broadcasting “Names of God”) was published in France by the Desclée de Brouwer editions.

Patrick Pargnien

Patrick Pargnien

Patrick Pargnien started practicing Zen in 1985. 

He received the Bodhisattva precepts in 1990 and the monk ordination from Master Yuno Rech in 1991. He then gathered a group of practitioners and created in 2005 the “Bordeaux Soto Zen Dojo” where he still teaches. He also leads zazen days, conferences and workshops.

In 2012, his dojo became the "Cloud and Water Zen Meditation Center” (http://nuageeteau.fr/)

Since 2001, he keeps leading sesshins in France, Germany, Belgium and Spain.

He received the Shiho in 2010 from Master Roland Yuno Rech.


Heinz-Jurgen Metzger

HJ Metzger

Heinz-Jürgen Metzger has been practicing zazen since 1985. In 1987, he received the Boddhisatva precepts. He was then ordained monk in 1991 by Master Roland Yuno Rech, who transmitted him the Shiho in 2010.

Since 1996 Heinz-Jürgen Metzger has been also member of the spiritual leadership for sesshins in Auschwitz, a concept created by the American Zen Master Bernie Glassman.

In 2011 he also received the certification from Bernie Glassman. Heinz-Jürgen Metzger is responsible for the spiritual teaching of the “Buddha Weg Sangha” (http://buddhaweg.de/).

 


Sengyo Van Leuven

Sengyo van Leuven

Sengyo Van Leuven has been ordained monk by Master Roland Yuno Rech in 1992 and received the Dharma transmission from him in 2011.

Emanuela Dosan Losi

Emanuela Losi

Emanuela Dōsan Losi graduated in Geological Sciences at the University of Modena Studies (Italy), and then worked in the field of buildings and landfills control.

She was ordained nun in 1994 by Master Roland Yuno Rech and has been responsible of the “Dojo Mokusho Torino” for 10 years.

In 2012, she received the Shiho from Master Yuno Rech.

She teaches in Carpi (MO), as well as during zazen days and sesshins in all Europe.


Pascal-Olivier Kyōsei Reynaud

PO Reynaud

Pascal-Olivier Kyôsei Reynaud, Zen monk, is a disciple of Master Roland Yuno Rech and started practicing the Zen meditation at the Dojo of Nice in 1984. From 1989-1992 and 1989-2007, he was Chairman of the “Nice Zen Dojo”, and from 1992 to 1997 of the “Pelasque Zen Group” near Nice. In 2007, he helped creating the “Montpellier Zen Dojo” and was its Chairman until 2009. From 2008 to 2010, he was the European Zen Buddhist Association (ABZE) General Secretary, then Vice-chairman till 2013. He is currently Vice-chairman of the ABZE.

Pascal-Olivier Kyôsei Reynaud made the Hossen ceremony in February 2013 at Gyobutsuji, in the presence of Master Seido Suzuki, Master Yuno Rech and several AZI Masters. In August 2013, he received the Dharma transmission (Shiho) in the Zen Temple of The Gendronnière from Master Roland Yuno Rech.

Until 2014, he was one of the Shussos responsible for the teaching at the Nice Gyobutsuji Temple. In 2014, he moved to the Aude county and became responsible for the Zen teaching at the “Zen Dojo of Narbonne” https://meditation-zen-narbonne.fr In 2014 and 2016, he went to Japan for an ango at the Toshoji Temple, with Master Seido Suzuki. He then made the Zuise ceremony at Eiheiji and Sojiji in 2016. 

He regularly leads zazen days and sesshins in Europe, and does as well conferences and presentations on the Zen Soto practice and teaching.

In April 2019, master Pascal-Olivier Kyōsei Reynaud was elected to the Board of Directors of the Zen  association of Nice and was appointed vice-abbot of the Zen Temple of Nice, Gyobutsuji.


Michel Jigen Fabra

Michel-Fabra

Michel Jigen Fabra worked for 26 years in the technical department of a water distribution company.

In 2002, he created the “Carpentras Zen Dojo” and was its responsible for 7 years. In 2009, he went to live in the Zen Temple of The Gendronnière where he was Shusso and Ino for 5 years.

In August 2014, he received the Shiho from Master Yuno Rech and went for three months in Japan to do an ango and the Zuise ceremony at Sojiji and Eiheiji.

 


Konrad Kosan Maquestieau

Konrad-Maquestieau

Born in 1960 in Belgium, Konrad Maquestieau discovered the Zen practice in 1990. During a sesshin in 1992 in Belgium, he met Master Roland Yuno Rech. He received the Bodhisattva ordination in 1992 and was ordained monk in 1995.

In the winter 2010, he took part in the traditional ango organized by the Sotoshu Japan in Shogoji (prefecture of Kumamoto). In the winter 2014, he renewed this experience in Toshoji (prefecture of Okayama), supervised by Seido Suzuki Roshi.

In the summer 2014, he did the Hossen Shiki ceremony at The Gendronnière, supervised by the Abbot Raphaël Doko Triet. In the summer of 2015, he received the Shiho from Master Roland Yuno Rech, also in The Gendronnière.

He is the responsible of the “Shodo Dojo of Halle” (Belgium).

 


Lluís Nansen Salas

Lluis-Salas

Lluís Nansen Salas (Barcelona, 1965), is responsible for the Dharma teaching in the “Kannon Zen Dojo of Barcelona”. He has a diploma in Theoretical Physics of the UAB, has a post-graduate degree in Telematics as well as a post-graduate diploma in Information Sciences.

He started practicing Zen in 1991 and received in 1995 the monk ordination. In 2008, he created the “Kannon Zen Dojo” in the center of Barcelona. In 2016, he received the Shiho from Master Roland Yuno Rech.

In the Kannon Zen Dojo, he dedicates himself to the teaching of Zen, teaching based on a strong zazen practice and its harmonization with the daily life activities. Particularly attentive to the training of the disciples, he gives conferences, leads workshops and sesshins.

He is the author of the following works: “Meditació Zen – El arte de simplimente ser” (Edicions Viena, Barcelona, 2017) and “Ensenyances a Lluçà I” (Kannon Dojo Zen Barcelona, Barcelona, 2016).


Claude É Mon Cannizzo

Claude É Mon Cannizzo was born in France in 1955. After numerous years of practice and teaching of Martial Arts, he studied the practice of shiatsu. He is now a Shiatsu Therapist certified by the European Iokai School. He has been teaching shiatsu since 1996 and since 2008, he started teaching his own shiatsu style, the "Zan Shin Shiatsu", in the East of France. 

He discovered the Zen practice in 1980. After receiving the Bodhisattva ordination in 1987, he created the “Zen Dojo of Mulhouse”. He was ordained monk in 1991 and is a close disciple of Master Roland Yuno Rech. In 2016, he received the Shiho from his Master.

He teaches Dharma in the "Butsu Shin Zendo of Mulhouse" and is the leader of this dojo. He gives conferences and also organizes weekends in several European towns.


Antonio Arana Soto

Antonio-Arana

Antonio Arana Soto started practicing Zen in 1985. He receives the Bodhisattva precepts from Master Roland Yuno Rech in 1998 and the monk ordination in 2003.

In March 2016, he received the Dharma transmission (Shiho) from Master Roland Yuno Rech.

He coordinates the team of the Spanish translators for the ABZE Website and is the responsible of the “Pamplona Zen Dojo”.

 


Alonso Ufano

Alonso-Ufano

Alonso Ufano started practicing Zen in the “Zen Dojo of Seville” in 1977 and is the responsible of this dojo.

He was ordained Bodhisattva in 1980 by Master Deshimaru in the Dojo of the Pernety Street in Paris. The year after, he was ordained monk in The Gendronnière Temple.

In March 2016, he received the Shiho from Master Roland Yuno Rech.

 

 


Antoine Charlot

Antoine-Charlot

Antoine Charlot discovered the practice of zazen in 1997. He received the Bodhisattva precepts in 1998 and the monk ordination in 2000, from Master Roland Yuno Rech. He has been practicing in the “Zen Temple of Nice” with Master Yuno Rech for more than 20 years and became one of the teachers of this dojo. 

For more than 15 years and during numerous sesshins and summer camps, he has been taking the responsibility of the kitchen team as Tenzo. He shares his experience of Tenzo on the Web (see http: // www.recettes-vegetariennes.org).

Based in the Paris region, he regularly gives lectures at the Paris Zen Dojo. He is leading the Bondy Zen Center, where he regularly offers intensive practice sessions.

He received the Dharma transmission from Master Roland Yuno Rech in 2018.


Marc Estéban

Marc-EstebanMarc Chigen Estéban began practicing zazen in 1997. A year later, he met Master Roland Yuno Rech at the Zen temple of The Gendronnière and became one of his close disciples. He received the Bodhisattva Precepts in 2001 and became monk the following year. In the summer of 2018, he received the shiho (Dharma transmission) from Master Yuno Rech.

He teaches all year long at the Zen dojo of Chalon-sur-Saône, and also during zazen days or intensive practice sessions in France. At the same time, he continues his professional career as executive in a large group of services. He strives to deepen the practice of zazen and the teaching of Dharma in harmony with daily life.


Eveline Pascual

Eveline-PascualEveline Kogen Pascual was ordained nun in 1991 by Master Roland Yuno Rech. Since 1995 she has been practicing at the Kanjizai dojo in Aachen (Germany). She is co-founder of the dojo and has been directing it since 2001
(http://www.zendoaachen.de/).
She has been teaching the sewing of the kesa for more than 20 years and leading zazen days and sesshin.

In 2019, she received the shiho, the Dharma transmission, from Master Roland Yuno Rech.

 


Beppe Signoritti

Beppe-SignorittiBeppe Mokuza Signoritti received the Bodhisattva precepts in 1994 and the monk ordination in 2002, from his Master Roland Yuno Rech. For more than fifteen years, he has been Tenzo in sesshin in Italy, then later during summer camps at the Zen temple of La Gendronnière (from 2011 to 2018).

He devotes himself to the practice of Sumi-e painting, a traditional Japanese art, and teaches this art throughout Europe during workshops combining meditation and painting. He is one of the founders of the historical dojo of Turin and is in charge of the "Bodai Dojo" of Alba (CN) which he created in 2009.

In 2019, he received the Dharma transmission (shiho) from Master Roland Yuno Rech. In the same year, he founded in Paris the "International School of Sumi-e".
Nowadays, he devotes himself entirely to the practice of Zen.


Jean-Pierre Romain

Jean-Pierre-RomainJean-Pierre Reiseki Romain discovered the practice of zazen in 1981 with Master Taisen Deshimaru at the Zen temple of La Gendronnière. In this same place he was ordained bodhisattva in 1984 and monk in 1994. He received the Dharma transmission from Master Roland Yuno Rech in 2022.

Since 2010 he has been teaching at the Dojo Zen of Paris, of which he has also been the president since 2018.

 

 


Huguette Siréjol

Huguette SirejolHuguette Moku Myo Siréjol began practicing at the Toulouse Dojo in 1985 and was a close disciple of Jean-Claude Reikai Vendetti until his death in 2001. Ordained Bodhisattva in 1987 and Nun in 1994 by Master Kosen Thibaut, she continues to teach Zen at the Toulouse Dojo and leads zazen days and sesshin.
A disciple of Master Roland Yuno Rech since 2015, she performed the Hossenshiki ceremony at the Gyobutsuji temple in Nice on November 28, 2021 and received Dharma transmission at La Gendronnière in the summer of 2022.
She has also been teaching kesa sewing for many years and practices Do in and Shiatsu.
